Sunday, Third Week of Lent

I am the Lord you God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, our of the house of slavery; you shall have no other gods before me.  You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.  Exodus 20:2-4

Sometimes we behave like children in a toy shop.  We want this, and that, and then something else.  The many options confuse us and can even create restlessness.  When someone says, "Well, what do you want?  You can have one thing.  Make up your mind", we do not know what to choose.

As long as our hearts keep going back and forth between these many wants, we cannot move forward in life with inner peace and joy.  That is why we need inner and outer disciplines, to get beyond these wants and discover our mission in life.

Think about this:  What are your spiritual priorities?  How do those priorities affect and impact your daily life?
